NBA 2K27 Running Mate Review

The newest feature in NBA 2K27 that has really caught my attention is called Running Mate. It lets you earn Running Mate tokens and gives you the option to use those tokens to upgrade your running mate's skills. You have a variety of options based on which attributes your running mate is best known for. However, there are some definite pros for players—and potential cons for 2K.

Pro's For Player's

When you have a running mate, you can stack up assists quickly. You can pass to your teammate in hopes that he finishes the play, or get assists through him—if your running mate passes to you and you make the shot, it counts as an assist for him too. Plus, you can easily track both of your performances with your teammate grades displayed side-by-side at the top of the screen.

Con's for 2K

Because the Running Mate feature makes racking up assists easier, players can gather Virtual Currency (VC) much faster each game. Earning more VC naturally through gameplay means players may spend less real money on VC, potentially causing a minor short-term hit to 2K's profits.
